Stage Manager
Music is life. It’s the main thing that attracted me to a career in radio for most of my working life.
Over the years I’ve also done some work with a sound production company, played in a couple of local bands and been that singer/guitarist person playing songs to tug your heartstrings at various wineries, restaurants and pubs.
So, I appreciate the practice needed to become a better singer, musician or songwriter and know the buzz it gives you to play music for an audience.
The association and Mid-West Music Quest are all about giving locals more chances to experience that and hopefully be encouraged to keep going with their music and share it with others.
MC
I’ve been really lucky growing up with the fact I came from a big musical family. My grandfather played nearly every instrument under the sun. I played guitar myself for a couple of years, tried the clarinet. Then I did singing lessons for many years, as a teen many of my neighbours caught me belting out a tune when I went for a walk
Instead of being a performing musician I preferred to listen and talk about the music. What job lets you do that, well radio announcer! My role in the quest is the MC.
Sound Man
Basso’s interest in music goes back as far as he can remember.
However, playing an instrument was never something he could get the hang of, so the next best thing was sound engineering.
Basso studied audio and basic electronics while in school, so not only does he know the best and correct buttons to push to get the sound out, but could possibly fix the button as well.
His day job also has seen in a part of the team using the recording studio at Real FM making commercials and other bits & pieces for the past 20 years.
He has done audio for the past 2 MWMQ and looks forward to 2024.
Backstage and Social Media
Music is one of Hannah's greatest loves! Listening to music, dancing around and singing along loudly is a daily activity for her. Hannah also tries to get to every gig she can - big or small, she's there!
Growing up, Hannah was involved in many performing arts activities. She has a background in dance, cheerleading, musical theatre, choir and drama.
At the Mid-West Music Quest, you'll find Hannah out the back in the green room helping our contestants on and off the stage and ensuring they're comfortable while they wait for their performance time. Hannah also assists with our social media content and graphic design.
Coordinator
Once upon a time I had a little idea, after some discussion with the rest of the team, my idea miraculously became the Mid West Music Quest.
That first year everything happened very quickly, and I had to organise everything within a couple of weeks. But the hard work paid off with the Mid West Music Quest being a great success.
The Quest has now become an annual event and is growing every year and I couldn’t be prouder.
I love working behind the scenes, organising all the different aspects to help make the event a success.
