I was born and raised in Mudgee and introduced to music around age 6, joining a percussion group in a local primary school. Starting piano lessons the year after, it was decided that music was going to play a significant role in my life.
I dabbled in various other instruments and grew to love guitar and drums, playing both throughout high school.
Drums led me to study Music at JMC Academy where I found like minded creatives and formed an alternative rock band. This pursuit opened many doors to songwriting, supporting established Sydney bands, recording and filming music videos. Similar endeavours were undertaken through producing a hip hop group which saw me touring and playing live drums again in an entirely different setting.
After the decision to return to Mudgee, I found myself playing in an acoustic duo with a long time collaborator, exploring vocals and starting a solo acoustic project. It also lead to a passion for teaching which has seen me begin employment at local high schools as a music teacher.
To this day, I still love performing live, producing music, making musical connections and passing on what I know whilst forever learning more myself.
As Abba said, I was a singer before I could talk. All through school I was apart of choirs and performed at school assemblies with either pop songs or singing the national anthem. I even tried out for Red Faces for singing once upon a time.
I received some training at Showbiz Talent School in the hunter and did some singing camps when I was still in primary school.
I was a part of the Australian youth choir for a period of time where I recorded songs with Daryl Cotton in the choir and also supported the Vienna Boys Choir when they performed in Newcastle.
I’ve been in a cover band before playing gigs in the hunter valley, and have quite a few personal connections in the Australian folk and country music scene.
Professionally, from 2008 for three years I produced a Country Music talkback program across NSW & Southern Queensland being able to launch and shine a light on artists who were up and coming, one of which is Morgan Evans.
& of course, I am passionate about music and Mudgee and our local community and am very thrilled to be able to be apart of the music quest where I get pursue this passion so wholeheartedly.
